Issued after Brimley’s death, this fine collection of essays was offered as a memorial to the scholar, who had published all of the pieces save one anonymously in periodicals such as TheSpectator and Frasier’s Magazine. Included are meditations on the works of literary giants such as Dickens, Carlyle, Tennyson, Thackeray, and Wordsworth.
