Sir George Arthur, Kitchener’s private secretary and friend, published this three-volume biography in 1920. Volume III begins with Lord Kitchener's appointment as Secretary of State for War on the eve of World War I and follows his military and diplomatic trials and triumphs until his tragic death at sea (1916).
