DC Smith and the Kings Lake murder squad return with a fatal problem—they’ve run out of murders—bringing them face to face with a stack of cold cases, and a long dead Jane Doe in need of justice.
Twenty years ago, a young woman’s body was found in the quiet Norfolk countryside. She had no name, no past, and no one around to demand justice. When the Kings Lake murder squad is assigned a stack of forgotten cold cases, they are drawn to the mystery of the unidentified woman. If they can’t even give her a name, how can they possibly find her killer after two decades? As the team slots together the missing pieces of a forgotten life, they uncover secrets someone was certain would stay buried forever.
