Continuing on from his study of the age of Queen Anne, Morris picks up the narrative in 1713 with the Peace of Utrecht, provides an overview of the state of Europe, and details the succession of George I. Moving seamlessly through the chronology of the era, Morris offers memorable portraits of figures such as Sir Isaac Newton, Sir Robert Walpole, Queen Caroline, and Maria Theresa.
